Air Fryer Onion Rings

Crispy and delicious Air Fryer Onion Rings that provide the perfect balance of flavor and crunch without the guilt of traditional frying.

  • 2 large onions (firm and fresh)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs or panko
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 tsp paprika or garlic powder for added flavor
  • Cooking spray or 1-2 teaspoons oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Onions: Peel and slice the onions into rings about a quarter-inch thick.
  2. Set Up Your Breading Station: Prepare three bowls with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, beaten eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs or panko with optional spices.
  3. Coat the Onion Rings: Dip each onion ring in flour, then beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs or panko.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Arrange and Air Fry: Place the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spray lightly with oil, and air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with spices in the breadcrumbs. Use a mandolin for even slicing and consider double-dipping for a thicker crust.
