Brioche French Toast

A sensational morning treat that combines rich custard and crispy edges for a delightful breakfast experience.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of brioche bread (3/4 to 1 inch thick)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Fresh berries (optional, for serving)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche into 3/4 to 1 inch thick slices and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Soak each slice of brioche in the custard mixture for about 30-40 seconds on each side.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter until foamy.
  5. Place the soaked brioche slices in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  6. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and topped with fresh berries, whipped cream, and maple syrup.

Notes

Store leftover French toast in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
