Coffee Tiramisu Cake

A layered chocolate cake infused with rich coffee and creamy mascarpone, inspired by the classic Italian dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Dark chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans with a light greasing and a dusting of flour.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the cooled coffee. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold in mascarpone, vanilla, and coffee liqueur (if using).
  10. Once chilled, spread the frosting between the cakes and on the top and sides.
  11. Garnish with chocolate shavings and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For an added twist, try adding raspberry preserves or orange zest for fruity or citrusy variations.
