A vibrant twist on the classic red velvet cake, featuring a soft, moist texture and a creamy cream cheese frosting, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Green Gel Food Coloring
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and a hint of salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and vegetable oil until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time into the sugar-oil mixture, fully incorporating each one before adding the next.
  5. Mix in the buttermilk and green food coloring until well combined.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and evenly distribute it.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

For extra fluffiness, sift the dry ingredients. Substitute half of the vegetable oil with unsweetened applesauce for a healthier option. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
