Key Lime Trifles: A Delightful Citrus Escape

A refreshing dessert combining creamy lime filling and crunchy graham crackers, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 1/2 cups crumbled graham cracker crumbs and small pieces
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup lime juice (from 23 medium limes)
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest (from 12 medium limes)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold
  • Graham cracker crumbs for garnish (optional)
  • Lime zest for garnish (optional)
  • Lime slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the crumbled graham crackers, melted butter, and brown sugar until it resembles wet sand. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  3. Stir in the lime juice and lime zest.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and whip until it thickens slightly.
  5. In six 8 oz jars, layer 2 tablespoons of the graham cracker mixture and 1/4 cup of the lime filling, then repeat the layering.
  6. Chill for 1 hour, then garnish with lime slices, lime zest, and extra graham cracker crumbs before serving.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze portions for later use.
