Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers

A delightful blend of savory filling wrapped in tender cabbage leaves, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 810 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
  • 1 cup cheese (optional)
  • Spices (e.g., paprika, cumin, or herbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Separate cabbage leaves and blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, cook the ground meat with chopped onion and optional garlic. Season with salt, pepper, and spices until cooked through.
  4. Take one cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture at the base.
  5. Roll the cabbage leaf tightly and tuck in the sides.
  6. Place the rolled cabbage burgers seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Spray or brush the tops with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. Serve warm with a dipping sauce or salad.

Notes

For a healthier option, swap ground beef for chicken or use quinoa as a filling. Cabbage burgers can be prepped in advance or frozen for later use.
