Spice Cake

A delightful and aromatic spice cake that is perfect for family gatherings or a cozy evening dessert.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk (whole or buttermilk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan thoroughly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the eggs, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
