Strawberry Shortcake Jars

A delightful layered dessert combining fresh strawberries, cake, and whipped cream, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 4 cups sponge cake or pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash, hull, and slice the fresh strawberries.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced strawberries with sugar and optional vanilla extract; allow to sit for 20 minutes.
  3. Cut the sponge or pound cake into small cubes.
  4. In a chilled bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract; whip until soft peaks form.
  5. Layer jars starting with cake cubes, then strawberries with syrup, and whipped cream; repeat layers until jars are filled.
  6. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and a slice of strawberry as a garnish.

Notes

Use seasonal strawberries for the best flavor. Chill jars before serving.
