Swiss Mushroom Melt

A comforting sandwich featuring creamy Swiss cheese and earthy sautéed mushrooms on crispy sourdough bread.

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 200g Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the Pan: In a skillet, combine the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the Mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms, seasoning with salt and pepper, and sauté until golden-brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Set Aside: Remove the sautéed mushrooms from the skillet and keep warm.
  4. Build Your Sandwich: Place two slices of sourdough bread in the skillet, layer with half the Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms.
  5. Add More Cheese: Top with remaining Swiss cheese and cover with the other two slices of sourdough bread.
  6. Golden Browning: Cook until the bread is golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Serve Warm: Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and enjoy!

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute butter with avocado oil and use whole-grain or gluten-free bread if needed.
